Imagine yourself waking up in a luxurious treetop suite high above the lush Costa Rican jungle or finding yourself mesmerized as elephants casually wander past your elegant tent at dawn in Botswana. For Luxury Frontiers, these incredible experiences are not just dreams; they are well-crafted realities.

Based in Johannesburg, Luxury Frontiers stands as a leader in the design of sustainable, immersive resorts and lodges. Their innovative approach focuses on blending biophilic principles—where nature and architecture meld seamlessly—creating spaces that resonate with the surrounding environment. Collaborating with prestigious brands such as Aman, Belmond, Four Seasons, and Ritz Carlton, Luxury Frontiers designs not just places to stay but immersive experiences that allow guests to connect deeply with local culture, nature, and community.

One of the firm’s groundbreaking projects involves a partnership with A&K Sanctuary (formerly Abercrombie & Kent) to create three new safari lodges in Africa, set to open over the next couple of years. Each lodge offers a unique reinterpretation of the landscape and culture:

    – A&K Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Lodge in Uganda will sit deep within the vast Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The design will fuse traditional Ugandan materials and techniques, featuring roofs made from papyrus reeds and earthy, terracotta-colored walls that reflect the local vernacular architecture. Inside, natural materials like stone and wood will blend with contemporary designs to create a timeless, elegant atmosphere, paying homage to the forest’s rich biodiversity.

    – A&K Sanctuary Baines’ Lodge in the Okavango Delta, Botswana, channels the spirit of 19th-century explorer Thomas Baines. The design marries the elegance of European aesthetics with the raw beauty of the African bush, creating a sanctuary where art and nature coexist harmoniously. Large overhangs provide shelter from the sun, and sustainability remains at the forefront, with materials sourced to ensure the structure can be entirely removed after 20 years, leaving behind no trace of its existence.

    – Further afield, the A&K Sanctuary Kitirua Plains Lodge in Kenya is strategically located on a private concession bordering Amboseli National Park, offering breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The design incorporates local colors and textures, thoughtfully integrating Maasai cultural elements into an earthy, organic palette.

At Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Costa Rica, Luxury Frontiers has designed treetop tents that offer an unparalleled connection with nature. Each two-bedroom tent flows into a central lounge featuring living areas and plunge pools, all while capturing panoramic views of the ocean. The tents are ingeniously designed to filter sunlight and maintain a balance between luxurious comfort and environmental friendliness. Here, interiors inspired by Guanacaste’s heritage create an inviting haven for those seeking both relaxation and exploration.

North America’s first all-weather tented camp, Camp Sarika by Amangiri, boasts ten luxury tents set against the stark beauty of Southern Utah’s mountainous terrain. Built to withstand varying climates, the camp includes two spas and a swimming pool, allowing guests to enjoy the majestic canyon views year-round.

Naviva, A Four Seasons Resort, is another standout feature, designed specifically for adults. Here, 15 luxury tents are set within 48 forested acres on a serene private peninsula overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The immersive design flows seamlessly between indoor and outdoor living, creating a tranquil retreat that thoughtfully connects with local community and culture.

Expanding on their innovative work, Luxury Frontiers has introduced Aman Cabana, a unique retail experience offering exclusive products from stunning destinations. This mobile boutique concept debuted at Amanpuri and will journey through various resorts, providing guests with a taste of luxury that they can take home.

Likewise, the new Madwaleni River Lodge in South Africa offers 12 immersive tented accommodations along the White Umfolozi River, echoing the rich tapestry of local culture and the natural world.

Lastly, Wilderness Usawa Serengeti takes a mobile approach to safari lodging, following the Great Migration across Serengeti National Park. With six fully solar-powered en-suite tents that offer stunning views, guests can immerse themselves in the vast plains and wildlife that surround them.

Through its remarkable designs and sustainable practices, Luxury Frontiers is redefining how people experience the wild and remote. Whether nestled among treetops in Costa Rica or wandering through the open plains of the Serengeti, each project represents a fusion of luxury with authentic cultural and ecological experiences. As the travel landscape shifts toward deeper connections and purposeful exploration, Luxury Frontiers is proving that sustainability and sophistication not only coexist—they elevate each other to new heights.
