Villa Le Blanc Gran Melia Hotel: Discover Menorca’s Chic Oasis

    Booking.com

I’ve just returned from a luxurious four-day escape at Villa Le Blanc Gran Melia Hotel, a dreamy whitewashed sanctuary on Menorca’s stunning south coast that embodies the essence of Mediterranean elegance.

As Menorca’s premier member of the Leading Hotels of the World, Villa Le Blanc stands as the island’s pinnacle of luxury. It beautifully reflects and harmonizes with the local environment.

This remarkable establishment is groundbreaking as the first net-zero hotel for both Gran Melia and the Balearic Islands, strategically located for those eager to explore everything this gem of an island offers.

    Interiors

With inspiration drawn from the sleek lines and gentle curves typical of traditional Menorcan architecture, Villa Le Blanc’s interiors radiate a sense of effortless sophistication.

The fusion of light-soaked spaces, terracotta flooring, wooden beams, and handcrafted clay sculptures by local artisans enriches its distinct character. Each element contrasts beautifully against the ever-glimmering Mediterranean backdrop.

Check out this reel to see a tour of some of my favorite spots.

    Rooms

The hotel features 159 refined rooms and suites, accentuated by Menorcan arches framing breathtaking coastal views. Every room boasts a private terrace, with select suites equipped with hot tubs or swim-up pools.

We enjoyed an extraordinary Junior Suite featuring a private roof terrace. Each time I stepped inside and beheld the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, it felt like a slice of paradise.

From the plush bed, soaking tub, or cozy sofa, the sea was always within sight.

The soothing white walls, elegant archways, and sheer drapes that clever concealed our unpacked luggage struck the ideal balance with the striking blue vistas.

Accessed by a spiral staircase, our balcony led to a private sea view roof terrace equipped with two Balinese daybeds—one under the shade and the other basking in the sun—along with direct pool access.

This adults-only rooftop pool transformed our terrace into an ultra-relaxing oasis.

The weather during our visit didn’t favor us (hence the borrowed hotel photos showing the usual sunny scenes), yet we still found joy lounging and reading in our private retreat.

In the summer, this space promises bliss, especially when the pool bar is open and a refreshing swim is just a few steps away.

    Restaurants

The resort boasts three dining options, all showcasing authentic Menorcan flavors, including S’Amarador, a branch of one of the island’s most renowned establishments famous for its lobster stew.

Dinner at Nivi, the hotel’s upscale all-day dining venue, was nothing short of magical, especially in the evening.

The meal kicked off with a delightful array of warm bread and dips, setting the stage for what was to come. I opted for the Menorcan Angus Steak as my main course, perfectly cooked and seasoned, followed by the Kinder Bar for dessert—a recommendation I wholeheartedly embraced from a fellow guest. It was undoubtedly one of the best desserts I’ve had in ages.

The restaurant staff and everyone we met throughout the hotel were stellar. Their genuine friendliness made us feel completely at ease, complemented by the refreshing Hugo Spritz that contributed to our relaxed vibe.

Breakfast served at Nivi is genuinely among the best presentations I’ve ever encountered. A lavish spread of fruits, salads, cheeses, and pastries elegantly arranged on wooden platters invites indulgence.

My favorite was the ready-made avocado, eggs, and bacon that were frequently replenished during the extended breakfast service. (Breakfast lasts until 11 a.m., so there’s no rush to get out of bed.) Their barista coffee also deserves a mention, with staff always ready to prepare another cup for guests.

    Spa

With the unpredictable weather, we found refuge in the hydrothermal spa suite. The heated indoor pool, steam room, and sauna facilities are complimentary for hotel guests. Since the spa isn’t extensive, the reception recommends booking a spot in advance to avoid overcrowding.

While children are welcome in the mornings, afternoons are exclusively reserved for adults. If you’re seeking peace and relaxation, those afternoon slots are perfect.

    Kid’s Club

Families will love that this stylish hotel caters to children just as beautifully.

The Montessori-inspired kids club at Villa Le Blanc is among the most charming play areas I’ve encountered. It features a variety of neutral-hued wooden toys, games, and crafts, all arranged by age group. Painting easels and aprons are paired with cozy cushions, bean bags, and tepees. The sunlit space presents a clean and relaxing vibe—just as inviting as the sophisticated communal areas.

While children under five must be accompanied by an adult, they offer supervised sessions during peak seasons for older kids. Checking the specific days and times with the hotel is advisable when booking.

The hotel is in a family-friendly location, just minutes from sandy beaches, with snack bars and mini-markets nearby. While there isn’t a dedicated children’s menu, the kitchen is accommodating, preparing child-friendly meals upon request and providing purees for babies.

I traveled to Menorca with my mother for a peaceful getaway, yet I envision returning with my little one for a longer family holiday.

    Location

Situated just 25 minutes from the airport along the beachfront in Santo Tomas, the hotel is ideally located for exploring Menorca. From here, all must-see spots like Ciutadella, Mahon, Fornells, and the stunning beaches are never more than a 30-minute drive away.

Parking is available on-site, and renting a car is the best way to experience the island, which has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1993.

Villa Le Blanc gladly offers guests a complimentary electric Audi for a day. Click here for booking details and conditions.

As we hadn’t pre-arranged car hire, the hotel arranged for one to be delivered to us. My first experience driving in a foreign country was worry-free, as Menorca’s roads are quiet, well-kept, and straightforward to navigate.

Despite the rain, we ventured to Mahon for some retail therapy. A local blogger recommended a family-run shop in the port of Mahon where custom Menorcan sandals can be made in under ten minutes. My mother and I delighted in trying various colors and styles, leaving with our own unique pairs of avarcas for just 30 Euros.

We also explored the charming whitewashed village of Binibequer and the picturesque cove of Cala Binisafuller. Our dinner plans at Coral Menorca near Ciutadella were foiled due to bad weather, yet we enjoyed a delightful room service meal while watching the sunset from our suite—embracing Plan B!

If driving isn’t your style, the hotel is perfectly situated for hikers, offering direct access to the Cami de Cavalls, a historic trail that circles Menorca.

My mother and I walked a portion of the trail between Santo Tomas and Son Bou—a breathtaking journey along cliffs, country lanes, and sandy dunes. It’s a gentle 10km round trip, making the spa a tempting option for a post-walk relaxation.

    Sustainability

Beyond its stunning design and impeccable service, the hotel shines for its sustainability initiatives. Incorporating cutting-edge facilities allows them to minimize their environmental impact, ultimately striving for carbon neutrality.

By using technologies like biomass heating, the hotel showcases high energy efficiency standards and sets a precedent for future net-zero hotels.

This commitment enhances the overall comfort of your stay.
